Yazmin Vasquez

Senior Managing Paralegal · 7+ Years’ Experience

With 7+ years in Colorado law, Yazmin is everyone's first point of contact and the engine of the firm — Yazmin does it all: the calendar, every filing, and the entire client line. She collaborates with Charles on every single pleading, builds the exhibits, and preps every file he carries into a courtroom. Every deadline tracked, every document in order — nothing expires quietly, and nothing sits still on her watch. When an order comes down, you hear it from her first, in plain English. And because she and Charles work every case side by side, you never have to tell your story twice.

Community Resource

Parenting Coordinator / Decision-Maker (PC/DM), explained

Two Colorado tools for co-parents who keep ending up back in court — in plain English, with the statutes.

Parenting Coordinator (PC)

C.R.S. § 14-10-128.1

A neutral who helps you actually carry out the parenting plan — building workable communication, spotting what keeps causing the conflict, and heading off the next fight. A PC facilitates; a PC does not make binding rulings. Appointed by agreement, or by the court after the plan breaks down and mediation hasn't worked. Appointments run up to two years.

Decision-Maker (DM)

C.R.S. § 14-10-128.3

With both parents’ written consent, a DM can make binding decisions that implement or clarify your existing orders — effective immediately. Either parent can ask a judge to review a DM’s decision in a fresh de novo hearing; but if the court upholds it, the parent who challenged it can be ordered to pay the other side’s costs.

One neutral, both hats. Many appointments are a combined “PC/DM” — facilitation first, a binding call only when you truly can’t agree.
Limited power. A PC/DM can implement and clarify the orders you already have — it can’t rewrite custody or modify child support.
Not the same as a CFI. A CFI investigates and recommends to the court; a PC/DM helps you run the plan the court already ordered.

General information for Colorado residents — not legal advice, and reading it doesn’t create an attorney-client relationship. For guidance on your own situation, talk with a lawyer.

Questions about a PC or DM in your case? A 20-minute call with Charles is no-charge.
